Are you confused about what an affiliate marketer is? Affiliate marketing is a relatively uncomplicated system. It is very profitable for a lot of people that are making their living online.
It starts out with a company. Obviously, companies are in hopes of generating more income. Their goal in a capitalistic setting is to make as much money as possible. Therefore, a lot of them will enter into an affiliate system.
This affiliate system is setup to bring in people who have a passion about their product and think that they could do well essentially be a sales person. They are responsible for abiding by some general rules, but also having liberty to use different methods to sell the companies product.
In return for selling their products, the companies will offer a return for each sale you make. This is often a commission based percentage but it can also be a flat rate. For example, you sell one “Spicy Salsa Package” you will receive 50% of their $25.00 order.
So what are you expected to do? Most internet marketers build a website revolving around the product they are selling. These are referred to as “landing pages” which often include testimonials and details on the product.
If a user opts to purchase the product they will typically forward the user to the original companies billing / shopping cart system where they will make the purchase from a special website address. This is so that the company can identify that that person who made the purchase was a result of your salesmanship. Companies will have different payment methods, many being through PayPal or mailing a check to you monthly.
There are websites and system devoted to matching you up with an affiliate company. Places such as ClickBank often try to weed out the poor companies and the same applies for the companies receiving quality affiliate marketers.
Companies have to be willing to provide accurate statistics to these types of places. ClickBank will then turn around and release that information to the potential marketers. You can find a wide variety of companies, ones in competitive fields, new companies, and even older and proven companies.
A lot of times you can find a diamond in the ruff by simply looking at some of the newer ones that are willing to pay a higher amount of commission on their products.
You should simply be careful and take these statistics and information into account. Affiliate marketing is something that you should study before diving into and can at times be a slow process. Everyone on the internet is fighting to get a little bit of the daily internet traffic that comes onto the internet. You have billions of competitors so do your research wisely.
However, do not let that scare you off; hundreds of thousands make their living online!
